Riga Airport has Handled more than Two Million Passengers This Year
Operational data on Airport performance show that Riga Airport handled 2.05 million passengers in the 11 months of this year, which is a five percent increase as compared to 2020, but still about 70 % less than in 2019 before the pandemic.
In November, when the winter flight schedule came into force, the number of passengers served at the Airport exceeded 271.5 thousand, which is half of the number of passengers served in November 2019 and 4.4 times more than in November 2020. This number of passengers, when the Airport monthly serves half of the passenger figures as they were during the pre-pandemic period, has been maintained since August.
In the previous month, the Airport handled 4428 flights, of which 3703 were passenger flights and 299 cargo flights, carrying 3331 tonnes of air cargo, which means an increase in cargo volume by 30 % as compared to 2019 and by 40 % as compared to 2020. In the first 11 months of the year, the total volume of air cargo at Riga Airport exceeded 24.2 thousand tonnes, which is one-fifth more than in 2020, and only slightly lagging behind the volume of cargo handled in the first 11 months of 2019.
