Civil Aviation Agency of Latvia (CAA), after evaluating the information at its disposal, informs that Israeli airspace poses a threat to civil aviation. Latvian airlines are recommended not to use Israeli airspace for the next 48 hours.
The CAA has conducted an analysis of the available information on the situation in Israeli airspace and has determined that there is a threat to civil aviation aircraft using Israeli airspace due to the escalation of the conflict.
CAA has sent a letter to all Latvian airlines with a recommendation not to use Israeli airspace for the next 48 hours, which concerns both airspace crossing in transit and flights to and from airports in Israel.
Latvian national airline “airBaltic” has informed CAA that flight BT-771, which departure to Tel Aviv was planned today at 23.25, will be cancelled. Passengers are encouraged to contact the airline.
At the same time, the “Civil aviation authority” invites passengers to assess security risks when planning their flights. The CAA reminds that restrictions on the use of airspace can create situations where passengers have difficult opportunities to leave the territory of a given country. The recommendations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the field of security when visiting different countries can be found on its website www.mfa.gov.lv.
