According to the government decision, the requirement to enter Latvia with an interoperable COVID-19 vaccination or recovery certificate or a negative COVID-19 test result remains in force from 1 March 2022. At the same time, the requirement to fill in covidpass.lv has been cancelled, while the requirement to self-isolate after entry has been cancelled as of 16 February 2022.
From 1 March 2022, no significant reason will be required to enter Latvia. At the same time, the control of travellers’ interoperable certificates and test results will continue by ensuring the same requirements for travellers regardless of the country of entry. Travellers from countries that do not provide an interoperable COVID-19 vaccination certificate must have a negative COVID-19 test result in the language of the country of departure or in English on paper or electronically (on a smart device). If an individual is unable to present a valid interoperable COVID-19 vaccination or recovery certificate or a negative COVID-19 test result (PCR or antigen) to an international carrier, the carrier will be entitled to refuse boarding.
The exceptions set out above remain valid in cases where an interoperable vaccination or recovery certificate or a negative COVID-19 test result is not required for entry, including for children under 12 years of age. Travellers, including those with an interoperable recovery or vaccination certificate, retain the opportunity to undergo a voluntary, state-paid COVID-19 test at the Riga International Airport upon arrival.
At the same time, the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control will carry out a risk assessment to identify countries where the risks of COVID-19 spread are very high and pose a risk to public health. To enter from such, especially high-risk countries, a significant reason will be required and an additional COVID-19 test will be required in Latvia.
